Vigilante Coffee Shop
Have you ever just wanted to go somewhere and spend an entire day doing nothing but engaging in your passions? Have you ever just wanted to watch how other people live their everyday lives? Do these thoughts ever run through your mind while you're doing something else completely unrelated? Well these thoughts run through my mind 24/7, 365 days a year. It's what I enjoy, what makes me happy.
I visited this little coffee shop called Vigilante Coffee Company in Hyattsville, MD just to enjoy a nice quality cup of coffee and relax. The shop was like a large car garage that had a door that could open up from floor to ceiling. I really wanted to see the different types of people that came into the shop, how they interacted with the space, how long they stayed, and who they came with or came to meet. This initially was supposed to be a visit of an hour or two but ended up being a 6 hour and 2 cups of coffee kind of visit. Hahaha. I was really enjoying my time relaxing with the nice breeze coming in from outside as it was about 75 degrees outside. It was such a beautiful atmosphere.
From my visit this is what I gathered -It has been named the best of DC. It is a very cute location. It looks as if it is an auto garage. It’s very industrial-like with a variety of seating: metal, wood, and plastic tables and chairs all assorted in a comfortable and cohesive way yet nothing matches. The consumer market is for those in their late 20s and up, looking to go somewhere with great coffee that looks, smells, and tastes amazing. It's a place to relax and blog or do some work while enjoying the ample natural lighting that this location is able to bring in due to the large windows around the building. My mistake of ordering coffee, which I’m not an expert in, I ordered a macchiato which is just a shot of espresso and steamed milk. In my surprise I received a tiny shot mug that had to be about 4 oz. I was hoping to get something a lot bigger but as I looked around I saw the variety of cups for different drinks. They served tea, coffee, and pastries. The employees all look to be in their late 20s as well with a cool laid-back vibe, matching the location. As I sit and observe others around me, some come with friends to catch up about work, events, shops and concerts they’ve visited recently. Some walk in and happen to see others they know with joy and surprise in their voices and begin catching up. And others, like myself just come to relax and enjoy their time alone.
