Elevate Your Denim
Denim on denim is definitely still a thing! Denim never gets old, no matter what the style of it is. Light wash, medium wash, dark wash. Skinny, jegging, bootcut, flare, wideleg. Jeans, tops, dresses, shoes, accessories. The options are endless! Denim has been used for anything you could possibly think of.
Personally, denim is one of my favorite neutrals. I love to just throw on a pair of jeans and dress it up with a cute shoe and top. But I also love to pair denim with denim. It just feels like more of a challenge to match the right shades of denim. For this particular outfit, I paired these dark wash jeggings with a bold newsprint buttondown dress and denim ankle boots. My newsprint dress is a new staple in my closet. It can be worn on its own or paired with anything you could think of, like a skirt or pants. These denim boots were a last thought. I just wanted to keep the outfit simple since the top did all the talking. I paired these lightwash denim boots with the darkwash jeggings to showcase the denim on denim. For me, when it comes to matching denim on denim the shades have to compliment each other if they're different shades or be the exact same shade, (I'll make another post solely about denim on denim and how they can be matched). I feel like this is an easy way for me to make wearing denim look elevated.
So if you're ever thinking of elevating your denim think about the dressier items in your closet and see if you can dress it down a bit with a nice pair of jeans or denim jacket. Or if you want to think of it the other way around, start with a pair of jeans or whatever kind of denim piece you want and see what shirt, pair of shoes, etc., could really dress it up. When wearing denim, you still want to have that relaxed, careless kind of look so don't go overboard with the dressy item. To elevate the look you don't need to do too dressy of a piece because that can make the outfit look overdone.
